Safety signs categories
Prohibition signs. These types of safety signs and symbols convey “do not” commands. An example of this is when you want to tell people that smoking is prohibited in a certain area. Prohibition signs are denoted with a circular red band with a single diagonal line in the middle.
Warning signs. Signs like these are used to warn people of nearby hazards or dangers. Stores or establishments that handle dangerous substances should post one of these signs near the entrance where it is easily visible to people.

Mandatory Signs. As the name implies, one must comply with these signs as you can find these in places where there is a presence of biohazard chemicals. Mandatory signs are white pictograms on a blue background and are circular in shape.
General Information Signs. These signs do not warn you of anything per se. Instead, they provide general information like pointing to where the medical aid kits are. They are also used to indicate fire hazard information like a symbol of a fire extinguisher, a fire hose, and arrows pointing to the exit.
Safety signs are very important in any workplace, especially if it is a construction site or manufacturing factory. Do not assume that people simply know the danger they are in. The correct warning sign located at the right place can save lives. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
